The Polish-Americans of Milwaukee gather in Maier Park for a three-day celebration of their heritage. Festivities include live music, delicious foods and family-orientated activities. There are also displays of roadside shrines and Polish murals.
The polka takes centre stage, naturally enough when one considers the legions of dedicated polka dancers throughout the upper Midwest. The centre of this action is the Non-Stop Polka Stage. In fact, Polka Police roam the festival grounds exercising gentle persuasion on the polka-impaired to keep the festive spirit high. The performances by crack folk dancing troupes are also one of the most popular features of the event.
