With an annual attendance approaching one million, Milwaukee's Summerfest takes place in Marcus Amphitheatre. It offers visitors music from noon until midnight, magic shows, literacy workshops and a kiddie kingdom.
First held in 1968, the festival was pioneered by Mayor of Milwaukee, Henry W Maier after he visited the Oktoberfest in Munich and decided to offer Milwaukee's residents the chance to enjoy a similar summer event in their own city.
