DJs, break-dancing workshops and extreme sports are just some of the many exciting activities on offer at Activ8 in Hyde Park. This major free festival, organised by the Mayor of London, includes five zones for young Londoners.
Highlights in the Teens Zone include DJ workshops delivered by Point Blank and break-dancing workshops run by UK Super Crew (All Star Crew), who represent the UK in all major championships. Bartenders are also on hand, mixing up non-alcoholic cocktails.
For those who enjoy extreme sports, five British Champions from Team Extreme, the UK's only professional BMX, skateboard and inline display team, perform heart-stopping halfpipe routines, as well as providing coaching for anyone keen to learn.
Activities in the Body Zone include many of the basic skills needed for sporting excellence - perhaps this could inspire participants to become the sporting stars of the London 2012 Olympics. There are also opportunities to perfect football skills with FA qualified coaches, budding cricket stars can visit the English Cricket Board roadshow, and other sports include basketball, mini-golf, a giant climbing wall and bowling.
Over in the Food Zone, aspiring chefs can visit the Food Standards Agency's Cooking Bus for hands-on cooking experience. Taste and try healthy foods, or simply enjoy the picnic area. The Mind Zone is the place to chill-out, with music, yoga and art workshops.
An enclosed Under 5s area includes toys, a play pool, bubble show, baby yoga, face-painting and storytelling.
